Melanie Kirk was a fictional character on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street. She was introduced as Chris Warner's first wife and first appeared in a recurring role in 1992-1993 portrayed by Tina Regtien before returning in a one off guest appearance in 2006 portrayed by Julie Crean.
Melanie arrives in 1992 after she hears her estranged husband Chris is planning to marry Alison Raynor, she warns Alison against marrying Chris and soon after, Chris dumps Alison to attempt a reconciliation with Melanie. The two move in together and soon become an item. However it soon becomes apparent that Melanie loves to party by herself without Chris' company. When Melanie receives an overseas job offer, the two decide its best to part ways and they divorce.
Chris runs into Melanie 13 years later at Sugar cafe and they reconnect however Chris and his new wife Toni both suspect Melanie is trying to win Chris back. Chris confronts Melanie who admits she has Fibromuscular Dysplasia and wants Chris to operate on her. Chris at first declines but Toni soon convinces him to go through with it. The surgery goes ahead successfully. Melanie is last seen thanking Chris.
